Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-22
These Terms govern your use of Kavy (the "Service"), an AI-created webtoon service featuring fictional AI authors, and set out the rights and obligations between you and the operator of the Service (the "Company", "we", "us"). Reader comments and author conversations do not guarantee changes to published stories. By creating an account, signing in, or posting a comment, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
§1
Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to register, or 14 in the Republic of Korea. If we learn that a child under 14 in Korea has registered, we delete the account.
- EEA / UK users under 16 may not register; we do not currently support verifiable parental consent.
- If we offer adult-only content, it is shown only to users who pass the age verification required by law, and you must answer it honestly. Our youth-protection standards are in the Youth Protection Policy.
- One person, one account. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
- You may delete your account at any time from Account → Danger zone → Delete account. Deletion removes your original personal account fields from the active account record when it completes (see the Privacy Policy for the exact scope). Episode comment text is erased from active records and author-lounge comments are removed from public display. Remaining Ink and chapter access cannot be restored. Purchase records remain linked to the internal account identifier for reconciliation and statutory record-keeping.
§2
Comment rights and license
You retain your rights in your comments. By posting, you give the Company a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, format, translate, and moderate your comment as needed to operate the Service. We may use service providers for those purposes under the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.
Comments are reader discussion, not submissions for future chapters. Posting or receiving votes does not make a comment part of a story or promise a credit, payment, or author response. Incorporating your comment into a webtoon or using it in advertising requires your separate permission; this comment license does not authorize those uses. Previously selected comments may remain visible as historical records and do not indicate an active selection program.
This license is limited to what is needed to operate the Service while the comment is posted. Once a comment is deleted or removed from public display, we stop displaying it, although copies may remain for a reasonable period in backups or where the law requires us to keep records.
Only post content you have the right to share. Comments are public; do not include private information. Deleting your account replaces its display name with a generated Deleted-xxxxxx label, erases episode comment text from active records and removes author-lounge comments from public display. To request removal of a specific comment while keeping your account, contact hello@kavy.app with its location. See the Privacy Policy for how comments and account deletion are handled.
§3
AI-generated content
Episodes, panels, author voice, side-story posts, and character sheets on Kavy are produced with AI tools, then curated and reviewed by human editors before publication. Reader comments are moderated automatically before they appear. The data flow to each third-party AI provider is described in the Privacy Policy.
Kavy episodes are works of fiction. Resemblance to real people, events, or trademarks is unintentional unless explicitly stated.
§4
Acceptable use
You agree not to post, submit, or otherwise transmit content that:
- sexually depicts minors (this results in immediate, permanent removal and may be reported to authorities);
- harasses, threatens, defames, or doxxes any person;
- incites violence or self-harm;
- infringes intellectual property, trade secrets, or privacy rights;
- contains malware, phishing links, or spam;
- impersonates Kavy staff, authors, or another user;
- spoils unaired episodes the author has marked off-limits; or
- violates applicable law in your jurisdiction or ours.
Zero tolerance. Kavy does not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. Sexual content involving minors, hate speech, harassment, threats, graphic violence, and other objectionable material are not allowed anywhere on the Service, whether posted by a reader or produced with AI. Users who post such content or abuse other users will have the content removed and may be suspended or permanently removed from the Service.
You also agree not to scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract Kavy content in bulk; reverse-engineer the Service; or attempt to circumvent rate limits, moderation, or authentication.
§5
Moderation, suspension, and termination
We may remove or hide content, restrict features (such as commenting or upvoting), or suspend or terminate an account at our discretion when we believe it is necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, or comply with law. For serious violations — sexual content involving minors, doxxing, repeated harassment — termination may be immediate and without notice. For lesser violations we will usually warn first.
We review reports of objectionable content and abusive users and act on them within 24 hours: content that violates these Terms is removed, and the account that posted it is restricted, suspended or terminated as appropriate.
You may appeal moderation or termination decisions by emailing hello@kavy.app within 30 days. We aim to respond within 14 days.
§6
Reporting abuse and IP claims
You can report comments and author-lounge posts with the Report option shown next to them, and you can block another reader so their comments are no longer shown to you; blocking also sends that reader's comment to us for review. You can manage blocked readers in your account settings. AI-generated content — episodes, panels, author posts and author-chat replies — can be reported too: use the Report option where it appears or email us as described below. We review every report as set out in Section 5.
To report content that violates these Terms, infringes your intellectual property, or otherwise concerns you, email hello@kavy.app with: (a) a description of the content and where it appears, (b) a description of the violation or the right you believe is infringed, and (c) your contact information. For copyright claims, include a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act on behalf of the rights holder.
§7
Service changes
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. For material changes that adversely affect your account, we will provide at least 30 days' notice by email to your registered address.
§8
Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or free of offence, and we do not arbitrate disputes between users.
§9
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service. Our aggregate liability arising from or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid the Company in the prior twelve months, or (b) USD 100.
These limits do not apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
§10
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company from any claim, demand, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your comments or other content, (b) your breach of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right. We may take exclusive control of the defence of any matter for which you are required to indemnify us, and you agree to cooperate in such defence.
§11
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes between you and the Company are brought before the court having jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. If you have no address in Korea, the Seoul Central District Court has jurisdiction at first instance. This does not affect mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
§12
Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor or affiliate.
§13
Ink purchases and chapter access
Ink is Kavy’s reading currency. Where purchases are enabled, one-off Ink packs are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store shows the local price and payment confirmation. Kavy does not receive your card or bank details. Ink top-ups are not an auto-renewing subscription, and free author conversations do not spend Ink.
- Your account and credit. Sign in to the Kavy account you want to use before purchasing. Ink is added after server verification of the store transaction. If the result is pending or unclear, check the purchase status and Ink activity before buying again. Contact hello@kavy.app with the order ID if you need help investigating a charge. A successful store payment and confirmed Ink credit may not appear at the same time.
- Using Ink. A paid chapter shows its rental and ownership prices before confirmation. A rental starts when the chapter purchase completes and lasts for the displayed number of hours. Ownership has no rental timer; it does not transfer copyright. Buying ownership is a separate purchase at the shown ownership price, with no deduction for a previous rental.
- Ink balance. Ink is not cash or electronic money; it cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to another account. Purchased Ink has no scheduled expiry in the current offering. This is separate from a chapter’s rental period. Verified balances and chapter access are linked to your Kavy account. Reinstalling the app or selecting a store restore action does not grant another copy of a consumed top-up.
- Withdrawal and refunds. Ink and paid chapters are digital content, so under Article 17(2)5 of the Korean E-Commerce Act withdrawal is restricted once supply has begun; we show this before you buy. The statutory exceptions — Ink left completely unused within 7 days of payment, payment errors or duplicate charges, defective or undelivered content, and a minor’s purchase made without a guardian’s consent — and how to request them are set out in the Refund Policy. Apple and Google process payments, so refunds are requested through the store (see Apple’s refund guidance or Google Play’s refund guidance). You can also contact us about an incorrect balance or missing access. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.
- Effect of a top-up refund. When a refund is confirmed, its unused Ink is removed. Chapter purchases funded by that top-up are cancelled. Ink from other funding used in those cancelled purchases is returned to your Kavy balance. Check your current balance, transaction history and chapter access after a refund is processed.
§14
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
