Refund and Withdrawal Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-22
한국어로 보기This policy explains when purchases of paid Ink, and of chapters rented or owned with Ink, can be withdrawn or refunded. It is provided by the operator of the Kavy service (the “Company”) and forms part of the Terms of Service. Where applicable law gives you more favourable rights than this policy, the law applies.
§1
Default: no withdrawal once supplied
Ink and paid chapters are digital content. Under Article 17(2)5 of the Korean Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (the “E-Commerce Act”), the right of withdrawal is restricted once supply of digital content has begun. The Company shows this restriction on the purchase confirmation screen and in this policy before you buy.
Unless one of the exceptions in Section 3 applies, purchases cannot be cancelled or refunded. You can preview each series through its free chapters, and a paid chapter’s rental and ownership prices and rental period are shown before you confirm.
§2
When withdrawal is restricted
- A chapter rented or owned with Ink: supply begins when the purchase completes and access is granted. The same applies after a rental expires.
- An Ink top-up any part of which has been spent on chapters: the whole top-up
- An Ink top-up more than 7 days after the payment date
- Ink granted free of charge (events, compensation) and free chapters
§3
When withdrawal or a refund is available (statutory exceptions)
- Unused Ink. If none of a top-up has been used, you may request withdrawal within 7 days of the payment date (E-Commerce Act Art. 17(1)).
- Payment errors and duplicate charges. If a technical error charged you twice, or payment completed but Ink or chapter access was not delivered, the Company will, after checking, deliver the missing Ink or access or arrange cancellation of the charge.
- Defective or undelivered content. If content differs from how it was described or advertised or from the contract, or a purchased chapter cannot be used properly for reasons attributable to the Company, you may request withdrawal within 3 months of supply and within 30 days of when you knew or could have known of the issue (E-Commerce Act Art. 17(3)). The Company will re-supply working content, return the Ink spent, or arrange cancellation, as appropriate.
- Purchases by minors. If a minor paid without the consent of a legal guardian, the minor or the guardian may cancel the purchase under Article 5 of the Korean Civil Act. Cancellation may be restricted where the purchase was within property the guardian allowed the minor to dispose of (such as pocket money), or where the minor used deception to appear to be an adult or to have consent (Civil Act Arts. 6 and 17). The Company may ask for proof of guardianship and will use it only for that check.
- Service closure. If the Company closes the service, it will give at least 30 days’ notice and refund remaining paid Ink in accordance with applicable law.
- Any other case in which applicable law grants withdrawal or a refund
§4
How to request a refund
Paid Ink is sold only through Apple App Store and Google Play in-app purchase. The stores process payment, billing and refund payouts. The Company never receives your card or bank details and cannot return a payment directly.
- App Store purchases — request a refund from Apple following Apple’s refund guidance. Under Apple’s rules the Company cannot refund on Apple’s behalf.
- Google Play purchases — request a refund following Google Play’s refund guidance, or contact the Company; once a Section 3 reason is confirmed, the Company can cancel the order through Google Play.
- Contacting the Company — if you believe Section 3 applies, or your balance or access looks wrong, email hello@kavy.app from the address on your account with the order (transaction) ID, payment date, product and reason. The Company will respond without undue delay and, where withdrawal is legally available, provide the confirmation and cooperation the store process needs.
Store approval and processing times follow each store’s policy. Section 5 applies to any refund the store grants, including refunds outside the statutory exceptions.
§5
Ink and chapters after a refund
When a store refund is confirmed, the unused Ink from that top-up is removed. Chapter purchases funded by that top-up are cancelled and their access withdrawn, and Ink from other top-ups used in those cancelled purchases is returned to your Kavy balance. Check your balance, history and chapter access after a refund is processed.
§6
What Ink and chapter access are
- Ink is a means of renting or owning chapters within Kavy only. It is not cash or electronic money and cannot be exchanged for cash or withdrawn.
- Ink and chapter access belong to the Kavy account that bought them and cannot be transferred, gifted, sold or moved to another account.
- Paid Ink currently has no scheduled expiry.
- A rented chapter expires when the displayed rental period (for example, 72 hours) has passed since the purchase completed. To read it again, rent or own it anew. Expiry is not grounds for a refund.
- An owned chapter remains readable without a rental timer while the service is provided; ownership does not transfer copyright. Ownership is a separate purchase at the displayed ownership price, with no deduction for a previous rental.
§7
Account deletion and remaining Ink
Once your account is deleted, remaining Ink and chapter access can no longer be used and cannot be restored. If you have a payment eligible for withdrawal under Section 3, request it before deleting your account. Purchase records are retained for reconciliation and statutory record-keeping as described in the Privacy Policy.
§8
Questions and disputes
Send refund and payment questions to hello@kavy.app. If a matter cannot be resolved with the Company, users in Korea may seek advice or mediation from the Korea Consumer Agency (1372) or the Content Dispute Resolution Committee. Nothing in this policy limits mandatory consumer rights where you live.
